Orange Ladies

Orange Ladies appear during the UN’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.

The bright Orange Lady (seen around Blackwood shops) is the global symbol for Zonta’s anti gender based violence message and a hope for a better future for women and girls.

The use of the “Orange Lady” is to provoke comment and incite conversation about domestic violence in the local community.

Why Orange? – Orange is the colour designated by the UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign. As a bright and optimistic colour, orange represents a future free from violence against women and girls.
